This series is a clear, correct and complete foundation in the study of the piano to enable the student to think and feel musically. I have used nearly every method out there, and have gone back to the Thompson method. Yes, some of the other methods have music that may seem more 'Fun" but if you want your students to become "excellent" pianists and not just If you want "fun" music for your students, there are plenty of supplemental things you can add.
Thompson now has a series of Popular Song books, correlated to each level. There is a big book of songs for Teaching Little Fingers that is great for that level and also as use for fun, or sight reading for this level.

This was one of the books I used learning. Some of the pieces got a bit tricky towards the end, but still at an easy level. I'm 50 now, and I'm glad to see its still available for ppl wanting to learn the instrument. It will help you get a solid foundation as a beginner Geared towards children, but adult beginners who aren't too proud can benefit too.
