I love the guitar work all throughout that album. listed as a C. 3rd fret on A would be a musicmarkup.info means that it was written in standard tuning, never changed. I got into an argument with my first guitar teacher about trusting official tablature books, I know the real band has.
User Name Remember Me? Is avaliable for download via the Necrophagist website. I know there's some fans here and there's no way you can argue with this since Muhammed wrote it himself as he was writing the album and this is just a printed version of it all. I've got mine ordered already. Daaamn thats awesome. I'd love to download it but I probably cant play any of the songs anyway.
I did the audio production for the album. Great stuff, really enjoyed working on this one. Here's the video song, "Abolution". No rest.
Ended up rewriting and re-recording some sections due to new ideas hatched during post-production, turned out much better. Crazy busy at the moment however, have to finish my thesis before I can wrap this up.
Alas, the problem of having many irons in the fire. A few people asked about a rough estimate for the release date. Optimally, I'd like to release the album during the summer. Things have been going fairly well, so I think that's realistic.
Will keep you posted. The title of the new Radiance album is "Paragon". Most of the instruments were recorded during the summer, what's still missing are the vocals and the orchestrations.
I'm working on the orchestrations right now and the vocals will be recorded early next year depending on the schedules of the people involved. Against all odds, the album is finally coming together.
While it's still too early to talk about an exact release date, it shouldn't take too long once the vocals are done. I'll post the next update once I have a progress report on the vocals.
Until then, happy holidays! I also mentioned that the next Radiance album would probably be released during As some of you have probably figured out by now.. Give me one band like Mercyful Fate over of those 8th note string skipping exercise bands any day.
At what point during your ordeals with focal dystonia did you know it was time to take more serious steps, such as leaving Obscura, to address your condition? Touring and playing shows just got more and more exhausting to me though because of the dystonia, also emotionally and because of the energy required to maintain a highly technical playing level every night with the loss of natural movement in my fretting hand. What changes did you have to make in your technique to prevent further harm to your fingers?
At first I had to make up for the almost total loss of my middle finger, so I had to re-arrange many of the fingerings of the stuff I played.
Since I was mostly a legato based player, I extended my tapping technique to using 3 fingers of my right hand as well in order to make up for the loss of left hand movement, and I figured out new ways of playing arpeggios and scales like that. Nowadays I regained some control in my middle finger, but I still stick to some of those new techniques because I figured they actually sounded better haha.
I also use more slides and position shifts these days in order to avoid unnecessary wide stretches. I do a lot of re-training at home, it starts with body awareness, learning about your bone structure and being able to observe your kinesthetic sense and and your sensory reception. I also do a lot of super slow playing under a threshold before the dystonia kicks in, or stopping before it kicks in, addressing it and then continuing to play. Do you take advantage of any tools like this? Do you think these tools are more helpful or harmful to musicians?
So I basically just use it for structuring and arranging the songs. Of course we use digital recording software like everyone else and I would not want to miss the advantages anymore, since I still remember a time when we were recording demos on tape where you only have a couple of chances to do something and call it a day.
I have a bigger problem with the sound aesthetics that result from it. So to answer the initial question, it basically depends for me. What plans do you have in store for the rest of and beyond?
