But I do have expectations from a plot like the one he chose to write. One of the biggest of the biggest requirement of such a plot is — emotions.

I was also expecting a good story. But a few chapters I started dreading reading the story because it got too slow and emotional-less. Quite a few times I wondered who these new characters are and what their role is. My best guess is, the author tried to exploit the insta-love trope from the romance novels, but failed to capitalize on it.

Another one comes toward the end in the form of a misunderstanding. I think I missed the POV of the main culprit — the dog. Yet there are moments when fate intersects with our daily lives, setting in motion a sequence of events whose outcome we could never have foreseen.
