I've been meaning to read this for a long time, and especially so after loving The Goldfinch a couple of years ago although I didn't get on with The Little Friend. The Secret History did not This book was every bit as excellent as promised. I've actually put off reading it because I was underwhelmed by The Goldfinch and was in no hurry to try another Tartt book. Happily, I loved Donna Tartt won the Pulitzer Prize for her most recent Novel. She was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, and is a graduate of Bennington College.

Tartt has an amazing ability to develop her characters into such complex and interesting people and by the end of the book you feel that you know them on a personal level. The storyline is intriguing and suspenseful. Her writing offers the perfect amount of description without making the pace of the book seem slow. This book was very hard to put down once I started it, as was the case with her first book I read.

Her writing style is different, in such a wonderful way, from the popular authors of today. I cannot wait to devour the next book of hers, which sadly, is the last of the 3 novels she has written.
