His mother constantly dropped him off for play dates and he was around the school a lot, usually accompanying Mrs. Westfield while she roamed the school halls in search of reasons to give out detention slips. Any suggestions on how to carry out the situation?
Mrs Westfield asked, directing her attention back to the policemen. While the adults were talking strategies, Sam pulled out his rock collection. He popped the lid open and took a small rock, smaller than a fingernail, out of its compartment. Then, with complete and utter excitement, he held it up in his palm for us to examine.
Up close, it looked exactly like a little chocolate drop. It took another few seconds of observation before I realised, to my delight, that Sam was showcasing a mouse dropping.
You should be able to decipher which dropping comes from which species. He lowered the can of citrus fizz and raised an eyebrow at me. We snapped and hissed at each other, growling out insults and witty remarks. Ryder opened his mouth to say something, but Mrs. Westfield beat him to it. She pulled out two little screwdrivers. The metal was long and thin with gold handles.
Handing one over to each of the policemen, they examined the tools sceptically, doubt filling their eyes. But eventually, Officer Brandy exchanged a look with his partner and shrugged.
Together they headed over to us. Sam had trotted over to the bookshelf, innocently gazing up at the dark tower of novels.
The slightly empty box of rocks sat on the floor of the office. Drawing my attention back to the police officers, I said, How long will this take? Not long, Miss Montgomery, Officer Brandy answered, sounding like he was trying to convince himself more than me. Just be patient. I said nothing more as I watched him kneel down in front of me, taking the tiny handle of the tool in his big hand and wedging it into the keyhole.
Well, at least, he tried to. Frowning, he attempted a second time to push it in, but still, something was blocking him off. Tossing the screwdriver onto the coffee table, he leaned in and squinted at the keyhole. Instantly, I felt uncomfortable with how close his face was to my hand. I mean, what if my wrist smelled or something?
It was possible; adolescents are known for sweating, particularly in weird places. What if he was secretly some creep with a wrist fetish? Some people have unbelievable fixations. It started creeping me out. There seems to be something wedged inside here, Officer Brandy called to his partner, scratching his head in confusion. They continued to squint and stare, probing at the keyholes, directing their flashlights to the handcuffs so they could see a little clearer.
But after a few tense minutes of having no progress, Brandy sat back on his heels and scrubbed a hand down his face.
Sam, Officer Garret called, is this your rock collection? He was as still as an animal in the headlights, waiting for the policeman to continue to determine his own reaction. Yes, Sam finally admitted, looking down as he gave a little nod. Have you been messing around with the handcuffs? Sam looked up at him, eyebrows drawn together, bottom lip jutted out. His face answered the question. Ryder frowned in irritation, twisting the metal ring on his can until it came off. So, there are rocks in there?
Sam seemed pretty enthusiastic showing us bits of dried up poop, I piped up, cringing at the thought. Even better. Ryder shook his wrist in an attempt to let them drop out, but they were jammed in pretty deep and nothing but a little dust came out. He groaned. The design and technology block has some saws. We could cut through the links and worry about the cuffs later, I suggested.
Brandy and Garret exchanged wary expressions. Thing is, it was a prototype, Brandy explained, looking at us sheepishly. I tried to tame the roaring wave of anger that was causing my cheeks to flame.
My irritation was evident through my voice. And Mrs. Being handcuffed caused numerous problems. But being handcuffed and not having a solution caused an infinite list of issues to arise.
How long would we have to be stuck at school? How were we supposed to shower? Whose house we were meant to sleep at? Ryder questioned.
Can you guys survive the night? Ryder made a sound of dissatisfaction. Swear once in a while. Tossing the can into the little bin in the corner, he added, Speaking of language, nature is calling.
My eyes widened. You cannot go to the bathroom, I shrieked in horror. Cross your legs or something. Handcuffs, Kisses and Awkward Situations is an amazing book. The author is genius. It's a great romance story with humor. It made me laugh and it made me cry.
I can't recommend it enough! I'd say that it's nice, but if you include the fact that this was written by a amateur Wattpad author, it's actually really good. It's an enjoyable light read. Wow, i really like this book, i couldn't put my phone down until i finished it all in one day.
I'd really like to have a copy of the published version if I find it anywhere. May 06, Belle Ellrich rated it it was amazing. From Wattpad sensation to published author, Olivia Harvard has stunned readers with her book Handcuffs, Kisses, and Awkward Situations. The main character—Nora Montgomery—had a goal to stay unnoticed until her high school graduation, which meant staying away from Ryder Collins. When the demonstration is over, Nora immediately requests to be uncuffed from From Wattpad sensation to published author, Olivia Harvard has stunned readers with her book Handcuffs, Kisses, and Awkward Situations.
When the demonstration is over, Nora immediately requests to be uncuffed from the boy she's desperately tried to stray from, but the keys to the handcuffs have gone missing. This leaves them stuck in a situation neither thought was possible. Now forcibly handcuffed together, Nora and Ryder have to go about their everyday lives, making everything more complicated and so much harder.
There is a clear tension in the air between the two, and as the book goes on, secrets are unraveled and confessions are given. The amount of drama and awkwardness found in this book is actually quite entertaining.
Olivia did a great job of capturing what it would be like to be stuck with someone who you both hate and love at the same time while throwing in aspects of what the downfalls and uplifts would be. Both main characters—Nora and Ryder—are hilarious and annoying at the same time. It's clear that the two have a history together, and it makes the plot of this book even stronger.
All in all, this book has a flowing plot, lots of character development, and funny quotes that you won't want to pass up on.
Nov 13, Jasmine rated it liked it. I found this book on Wattpad, and saw that because it was published it wasn't on Wattpad anymore. So it took me a while to get around to reading it, but I am so glad I did. I liked this book a lot, though I feel at times the mystery was sort of rushed in there, it was still a really cute! Jul 01, Anitairakoze rated it liked it. It was cringe worthy at times, but at the same time it was relatable for me because I'm just as awkward as Nora.
Overall I thought it was a cute read and I had fun reading this book. Jan 07, Salma rated it liked it Shelves: I'm pretty impressed with this book considering the fact that the author wrote this at age sixteen.
That, I will definitely laud Olivia for it. So, this book wasn't bad. It was actually pretty good. It's just that it will just have to fall under my "I-can't-believe-I-read-tr" shelf. There are definitely various reasons for my choice but the most dominant is the fact that I just realised that Olivia Harvard was cut for mystery books.
Now it was actually a surprise that there was a little bit of my I'm pretty impressed with this book considering the fact that the author wrote this at age sixteen. Now it was actually a surprise that there was a little bit of mystery in this one and it even came as more shocking when I realised this was written before Confessions About Colton.
So I figured she had a flair for mystery but to me, the whole Ryder and Nora thing was just not working out.
I don't really know but maybe it's just how I see it. Unlike Confessions About Colton , I'm really having mixed feelings about this one. I'm not even sure of the rating. But then again I might go back to book or something.
Apr 12, Camila Sureta rated it it was amazing. I started reading this on Wattpad. I just stopped reading it. I wasn't disappointed. I read it like there's no tomorrow. I was too engrossed. I'm a fan of it since it was still on Wattpad. Oct 19, Jaime rated it did not like it Shelves: I saw some of the other reviews that said she was a wattpad author and, sadly, I can tell. Nora was really annoying and whiny and Ryder was a jerk. I can't take reading about either of them anymore.
I get that they're handcuffed together, but deal with it. I think the awkward situations could have been written better with more detail and maybe more build up. Nora's sister is beyond annoying with her pregnancy. Normal pregnant people aren't THAT bad. So overall, I can't finish it because this story is just The concept was really cute, so I'm disappointed I couldn't trudge through it.
I found this book on site when I was searching for Wattpad related books. Of course, I could have just gone there and read the book for free at least I think it's still on there but I chose to download it because it would have been a nice book to have on my shelves. The story was really good. It really gives the impression that it is two books in one. A book about what they are handcuff and sort out their relationship. And a book where I found this book on site when I was searching for Wattpad related books.
And a book where they figure out what happened with the fire. So yeah, it was a good book. Jan 13, Paige Bookdragon rated it liked it Shelves: The potential was there. The way the author talks about the fire incident is kinda half-assed to me. Out of the blue, she is talking about the fire incident. Being handcuffed to the opposite gender was sure to introduce some extremely uncomfortable situations.
